Shedding A Little Light On Visual Communication Strategies:
Visual communication systems can help children and adults who are experiencing difficulties to understand what is happening during their day, understand their daily routines and to be able to express their needs more effectively.  Visual communication environments can include: Objects of reference, recordable charts, symbol key rings, choice boards, first then boards, now next boards and visual timetables.

Our charts are used when a child or adult can become easily overwhelmed.  The Fist Next Later board allows the splitting up of the daily routine tasks.  It allows you to be able to place a motivator after a task which may be found difficult.  With the use of the Now Next strategy children and adults are often able to progress to a more detailed visual timetable.
